Python package¶
LIMA's Python bindings are published on PyPI as the
aymara package. They bundle the LIMA C++
libraries, so nothing else needs to be installed.
Requirements: Linux x86_64 and Python ≥ 3.7. An up-to-date pip is
required to select the right wheel.
# A recent pip is required to get the right wheel
pip install --upgrade pip
pip install aymara==0.5.0b6
The package provides:
- the
aymara.limaPython module (see Using LIMA from Python and the Python API reference); - a
limacommand to analyze files from the shell; - the model installers
lima_modelsanddeeplima_models(see Language models).
The PyPI release lags behind the source code
The current PyPI release, aymara 0.5.0b6 (April 2024), was built before
LIMA's neural modules moved from TensorFlow to libtorch. It ships its own
model installers (lima_models for the legacy models and
deeplima_models for the libtorch ones) and its own ud-eng/ud-fra
pipelines. A new release built from the current code is in preparation;
until then, the Docker image or a
source build give you the latest version.
The sources of the bindings are in the aymara/lima-python repository, which also explains how to build the wheel.
